Embracing the Mission: Unleashing the Power of Faith

As I hurried through the bustling aisles of Walmart, I unexpectedly ran into a familiar face I hadn't seen in quite some time. Although pressed for time, I decided to pause and say hello. We began catching up as I knew we would. I asked about her son, Jason, a former student at one of the middle schools where I taught. I recalled vivid memories of him speeding down the school hallways in his motorized wheelchair, nearly running over anyone in his path. She shared he was doing exceptionally well and was now a leading player on his wheelchair basketball team, taking out her phone to show me pictures. I stood there in amazement. She followed with a story that was even more electrifying:

Tammie revealed a revelation that sent chills down my spine. The doctors had strongly advised her to consider aborting Jason, painting a picture of a life filled with insurmountable challenges. But Tammie chose a different path. She turned to her faith, trusting in God's plan for her and her unborn son. Her words echoed the wisdom shared in Proverbs 16:3, Commit to the Lord what you do, and He will establish your plans. Doctors have instruments to conduct medical tests and the knowledge to decipher the results, but she looked to God. She said, “After praying to God, I didn’t scramble with my decision. I felt His spirit touch me in a way that gave me peace and let me know I was making the right decision.” Trust God even when you do not have a plan or have all the answers.

God knows us even before we are conceived. Jeremiah 1:5 speaks to the divine appointments we have in life. When God births a plan within us, whether it's a calling to ministry, motherhood, entrepreneurship, or stepping out on faith, we must trust Him and resist the temptation to abort our mission out of fear or the opinions of others.

Tammie's story of unwavering faith and the miraculous journey of her son, Jason, serves as an inspiration to us all. It reminds us of the power of trusting in God's plan, even when faced with uncertainty and adversity. Let us embrace the wisdom of Proverbs 16:3 and hold steadfast to the belief that when we commit our paths to the Lord, He will establish our plans. May we find the courage to embrace our own journeys, knowing that God has already ordained our steps.

Chronological snapshots of Jason's journey: Jason as an infant captured on the left; Jason and Tammie enjoying a game; Jason, as a high school senior, proudly posing; and finally, Jason donning his University of Alabama basketball uniform. Excitingly, Jason will be playing with the esteemed University of Alabama wheelchair basketball team in the upcoming fall season. Notably, both the women's and men's teams of the University of Alabama's wheelchair basketball program won national titles in the most recent championship games.

If you have a testimony of faith, please share it with us so that we are further encouraged.
