Focus Your Change
I heard the best analogy for looking forward while listening to my friend, Joel Osteen. Joel explained that as drivers, we notice that the windshield in our cars is much larger than the rearview mirror. The purpose of the rearview mirror is to allow you to see things that are behind you without turning your head or losing your focus. The things that are behind you are important, often helping to guide your direction and decisions, preparing you for potential dangers or missteps. However, while important, it is even more crucial to focus on what is in front of you, as Joel explained. That is why the windshield is larger than the rearview mirror. The windshield provides a clear, unobstructed view of what is ahead and helps the car to be aerodynamic, meaning it runs less hard and has improved fuel efficiency.
Many of us are spinning our wheels, stuck, wondering why we cannot move forward, and why our change has not come. One of the reasons may be that you have not focused on your change. You refuse to release past hurts, disappointments, and failures. You are holding on to people, things, and aspirations that you realized, for some of us, years ago are not aligned with your purpose and what has been willed for your live. To experience a change and everything that God intends for you, a difference is required. You have to focus on change and think forward. This necessitates unhardening your heart and releasing things that entangle your thoughts and beliefs, words, and progress.
